Polish champions join forces
Grupa Azoty S.A. and Ursus S.A. have signed a letter of intent to cooperate in the joint development and implementation of efficient farming projects and the use of hydrogen as a source of energy for fuel cells powering electric motors. The companies will also work together on promoting and implementing educational projects.

The subject of the agreement to be signed will be the preparation and execution of joint research and development projects. The companies will also promote and implement educational projects with a strategic objective to increase both parties’ competitiveness and innovation in building a modern, knowledge-based economy in Poland.

Recognizing the mutual benefits of cooperation for an innovative economy, Ursus S.A. and Grupa Azoty S.A. will also share experience and knowledge to positively influence the development of both companies.

Through joint marketing efforts, the companies will work to win the loyalty of farmers and encourage them to purchase domestic products instead of imported farm equipment and fertilizers offered by foreign competition. A joint information campaign targeted at farmers, projecting the image of strong businesses and industry leaders, will soon translate into greater brand value for both companies.

“We believe that the exchange of knowledge, information and experience with Ursus will strengthen both companies. Grupa Azoty is open to innovation in industry and agriculture, close cooperation with research centres and high-potential technology start-ups. That is why we want to begin popularizing modern technologies in smart farming as well as innovative low-emission farming practices,” says Grzegorz Kądzielawski, Vice President of the Grupa Azoty S.A. Management Board.

“On the Polish market, we face competition from many global companies with strong resources. Cooperation with Grupa Azoty puts us in a better position and creates a chance for a more dynamic growth. I believe that this will be a multidisciplinary cooperation offering mutual benefits, says Karol Zarajczyk, President of the Ursus S.A. Management Board.

The joint efforts will involve cooperation in the use of alternative energy sources, based on the high quality hydrogen supplied by Grupa Azoty, which can become the fuel for the fuel cell electric buses built by Ursus SA.

The letter of intent was signed by Ursus S.A. and Grupa Azoty S.A. at Congress 590, held in the G2A-Arena Exhibition and Congress Centre of Podkarpackie Voivodeship in Jasionka near Rzeszów.
