In 2015, Grupa Azoty Kopalnie i Zakłady Chemiczne Siarki Siarkopol S.A. has used Polish ships to export over 300,000 tonnes of pelletized and granular sulfur to Morocco. The sulfur loaded onto Polska Żegluga Morska’s bulk carriers in Gdańsk is transported to Moroccan ports in Safi and Jorf Lasfar.
Grupa Azoty SIARKOPOL is the world’s only sulfur mining company. Extracted using the underground melting method, the mineral offers superior quality, exceeding the global purity standard of 99.95%. The company, which produces molten, granulated, milled, flaked and pelletized sulfur, exports approximately 70% of its output.
Granular and pelletized sulfur is transported to customers in Morocco on special ships designed to carry dry bulk cargoes. This year has seen the Grupa Azoty Group increase cargo volumes shipped through Polska Żegluga Morska.
“By relying on strategic relationships with domestic companies, we have a guarantee of proper delivery performance and security of supply, which allows us to consolidate our position on the global market,” said Marek Kapłucha, Vice-President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty S.A.
